Just the name Facebook sums up what you see when you are on there. Just the face. Very few people post what they are really like, what their everyday life is, and how their home actually operates.
This fact slammed me in the face yesterday.
And it was about me.
I posted a status and a peer who I have always looked up to said to ME that she was glad I was normal.
Just in case anyone else has that thought, no, I am FAR from being super mom. I am FAR from perfect. I am FAR from knowing it all and doing it all.
I want to squash that illusion, even though I do want to say THANKS for thinking I'm a supermom or that I have it all together. At least it looks like I do and I guess that is what my kid will remember.
Time to move the curtain so you can see what the wizard really looks like.
I have a messy house. I have 124 days of my child's classwork that has come home in his Friday folders stacked on my desk. I have a pile of laundry that needs folding in my room at least 3 out of 7 days of the week. My bed is hardly ever made. My floors are begging to be swept more than once a week. Yes, I have a messy house.
I raise my voice at my child. Daily. This is something I'm not proud of, but I will admit. I lose my temper with him when he doesn't do what I ask. I promise this is something I am working on, and I admit I am getting better.
I don't live like a perfect Christian every day. I gossip, have an adult beverage once in a while, and read TMZ daily. I let a bad word slip here and there, I miss church on Sundays, and I don't read my Bible every day. The good thing here...God forgives me for all of these things! He's pretty amazing like that. I try very hard to live the perfect Christian life, but God knows we are not perfect, so He forgives. Yeah, it's pretty great!
I'm NOT supermom. I forget to do 75% of the things I want to do. I bought (not made) cookies for Mardi Gras today for my son's class. They were left on the kitchen table. I skip my child's indoor baseball practices just because I don't like the air fresheners in the facility. I pray he finishes most of his homework with his tutor on Mondays because I do not want to fool with the headache I get from trying to get him to complete it. I have sent him to football and baseball practices before in dirty uniforms because I forgot to wash it.
This is just a glimpse at what real life for us is like. Just remember, when you are looking at someone's Facebook, it is only what they want you to see. Not many people take selfies in their dirty bathroom mirrors....or do they???
